The Admirable Crichton

For my final year Minor Project, I chose the text The Admirable Crichton by J.M. Barrie, and created a look for Lady Mary after she has lived on the island for multiple years. She is wearing split drawers that she has handsewn together for comfort, with her chemise, and a men’s waistcoat that she took from one of the men who also got stranded with her. She drawers are made of cotton with a lace trim at the ends, the chemise is made of viscose, manipulated with pintucks and gathering, and also trimmed with lace. The waistcoat is a medium weight wool with a cotton lining and back, with two welt pockets, handsewn button holes and horn buttons, and a strap at the back with a silver coloured buckle and mother-of-pearl button fastening. She is wearing pampooties made to look like she made them using whatever materials she could access on the island, and they are made with leather, faux leather and sheepskin.
